Rowing Club The Clubs and Societies Fund has been very supportive of the Rowing Club, with an award in 2023 enabling the purchase of a second single scull, and in 2024 with funding for another double. The latter also has sweep riggers, so in addition to sculling blades we acquired one set of sweep blades so boys over 16 can familiarise themselves with sweep rowing in preparation for university. We often use doubles to help with rhythm and to help form a cohesive crew. Zach Kirkham (Divisions) describes his experience of the Rowing Club: ‘Our new double scull is just one aspect of what makes our rowing team special. Mrs Scott’s dedication, both on and off the water, has created a sense of community and belonging within our team. Rowing has become an integral part of my life at Merchant Taylors’, offering a sense of fulfilment and purpose that I deeply cherish’.
