Roger Greene (SCR 1956–1990)

R oger Greene spent the vast majority of his teaching career at Merchant Taylors’, joining the school in 1956 and remaining there until his retirement. He taught Mathematics and Physics, coached hockey, was Head of the Shooting Team, and was part of the CCF. In 1970, Roger, Mary and the family moved into the Manor of the Rose, where he was Head of Boarding for 12 years. Roger retired in 1990. He spent his time, among other things, gardening, painting, furniture and cabinet making, and playing his clarinet. He was a true polymath. Mary died in 2013. Roger leaves his three daughters; Katherine, Joanna and Victoria; seven granddaughters and six great grandchildren. He is sadly missed.
