halt, the music would stop, everyone would sit down, and then we would see if someone had turned up on the day and there were not enough seats. A bit like musical chairs but with a high risk of embarrassment. Fortunately, we were never embarrassed, but I still don’t know who took the extra seats I had reserved for just such a possibility. The Choir was always exceptional and our thanks go to the choirs, the Music Department and Mrs Stubbs for so many incredible performances. The Dome at St Paul’s is a difficult place for public speaking as there is an echo for the reader. However, all of the readings were extremely well delivered by our boys and the staff. It was wonderful to see so many OMTs in the congregations and we are grateful for the support of the OMT Society and OMTs. At least five former OMT Society Presidents were in the congregation at one service. Well done to Michael Husbands (present Second Master) who has picked up the mantle and continues this great tradition. The 2021 Triennial was a huge success. For me, the best part of the Triennial is working with the boys and staff, both on the day and in the weeks and months beforehand. The Head Porter, John Reynolds and his team have always been fantastic. Anne Schofield, the Senior Master’s Secretary, was a rock of calmness and has wonderful organisational skills. However, there are also so many people who do so much to make the day so special. I am extremely fortunate and very proud to have had such wonderful colleagues and boys to work with. Burger and chips, your own tube train, no lessons, singing the school song, an afternoon in London: what a great day for a school boy!

It was an interesting task to assemble the Governors and Court in the right order, not least because some of the Governors are also members of the Court, which was clearly most confusing.
