Pupils and staff are welcomed to the ‘New Dining Hall’ in 2014

The scale and style of the building are captured above. It has become a fantastic addition to our campus not just as a Dining Hall but also as a venue for the school’s carol service, house meetings, chess club and Parents' Association events. For the record, our food has always been prepared and provided by our own catering team. The kitchen staff keep the school working and the author’s gratitude is shared by all. Andrew Crook, Deputy Head (with acknowledgement to school archivists and photographers past and present)

The catering, site and office administation teams are the unsung heroes of any school. Nina and Thomas deserve a special mention each for 30 years’ and 25 years’ service to school and food, respectively! As the school expanded in size, it outgrew current premises and the last lunch was served there in 2013. ‘Table stewarding’ by Y6-8 (Y5 were usually exempted until the Summer Term) was an important part of community service. Older generations will be disappointed to know that stewarding is a thing of the past. ‘Team Tea’ has always been a favourite after matches and we once welcomed footballer, David Ginola, with his son playing for Belmont Mill Hill! What a star, on and off the pitch, to join boys for Team Tea. Planning was sought and obtained for the New Dining Hall, subsequently named the Oliver Bangham Dining Hall to honour our former Chairman of Governors. The architects were Counter & King (now Bulmer + Counter) and the building contactors were Billinghurst George & Partners.
