Events Roundup: A Year of Vibrant Engagement with OMTs, Parents and Friends

52

T he events programme that the Development Office hosts and supports is a thread to strengthen bonds and reconnect alumni, parents, and parents of OMTs with each other and school. The past year has been nothing short of a whirlwind, with an impressive array of over 50 events spanning different interests and eras. It has been wonderful to host four different year groups at school for their decade reunions. Over three Saturdays in the summer, more than 150 OMTs, guests and former SCR from the Classes of 1983, 1990, 1993 and 2003 returned to school for tours of school and drinks in the Inner Quad – and there was even time for Rugby and Squash team photos with David Andrews and John Pallant. It was then over to the OMT Clubhouse for a barbecue, drinks, and the opportunity to view memorabilia from the Archive before settling down to catch up with friends and former teachers who included former Head Master, Jon Gabitass, John Coleman, Kamaljit Bains, Tony Booth, Tristan Greenaway, Chris Roseblade, Jonny Taylor, John Pallant, Tim Stubbs, Joan Stubbs, Jenny Andrews and David Andrews.

Huge thanks to OMT Class Champions Victor Bentata (1990), Chris Williams and Danny Hassell (1983), Sameer Jaggi (1993) and Varun Paul (2003) for their help in spreading the word and supporting the event. Varun began planning his event in early 2022 and it was only a volcano in Mexico that prevented him joining the party! The Class of 1990 now have a WhatsApp group of 100 from their year and they hope to meet up in London regularly now that they have reconnected. If you would like a reunion at school for your year group, please email events@mtsn.org.uk. From the accompanying photos it is clear that these are wonderful occasions to share experiences, achievements and memories! With more dates planned in 2024, we’re looking forward to seeing reunions from 1984, 1994 and 2004 as well as the early 1970s. Every institution treasures its benefactors, and Merchant Taylors’ School is no exception. Benefactors' Day was an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the generosity of those who have made invaluable contributions to the
