Cricket 2022

Aadi Bose showed his strength as a leader by cleverly working quick singles around the ground, pulling the team to a respectable score of 119. And finally, despite losing by 110 runs to Dulwich, these resilient boys refused to give up and valiantly chased a mammoth total of 164. It was truly an unforgettable season of exceptional performances by the U12A cricket team, with all of them showing a contagious enthusiasm for the sport. Coach: Mr L. D. Foot Squad: D. Bhanushali, A. Bose (Vice Capt.), A. Hofmeyr, A. Kalaria (W), N. Kerr, S. Malli, S. Patel, N. Phethean, A. Rane, V. Rathod, S. Sekhon, A. Shingala (Capt.). U12B The nineteenth century French novelist Alexandre Dumas suggested in his monumental work The Count of Monte Cristo that ‘time, which encrusts all physical substances with its mossy mantle… invests all things moral with its mantle of forgetfulness.’ That being so, one might have imagined that the second half of the U12B cricket 2021/22 season would have faded from memory as soon as the players set down their bats, pads, and gloves in mid-July. However, nothing could be further from the truth as the daring deeds of these plucky fellows remained at the forefront of their collective memory well into the new academic year. After a fun and fulfilling first half of the season, the boys reconvened and redoubled their efforts. Tricky fixtures against traditional rivals Haberdashers’ and Dulwich College ended in defeat, but MTP, St Albans, and The Beacon were all dispatched in tremendous style. The side was well led by the estimable Banit Arora, and he was ably assisted by Raffi Shaikh, Kabir Bhatt, Ashaan Janahan, Aaryan Akshikar and Shyan Vaghjiani, amongst others. They enjoyed their cricket and each other’s company and more than that, they are a lovely group of young men. Mr M. W. S. Hale Squad: T. Ahmed, A. Akshikar, B. Arora (Capt.), K. Bhatt, T. Dhadwal, S. Dhorda, R. Ghali, K. Halai, M. Halkerston, A. Janahan, K. Joshi, L. Li, S. Patel, N. Phethean, R. Shaikh, S. Vaghjiani.

In their last match of the season, the team faced Dulwich and lost by just one wicket. Umar Khan was the star performer of the match, taking five wickets in his three overs and scoring 16 runs, while Aran Fevzi was our top batsman with 31 runs before retiring. Dulwich won with a score of 133 not out, but the team can take pride in their performance. Overall, the U13C team can be proud of their efforts during the season, and they will be looking to come back stronger next season. Mr M. G. Hilton-Dennis Squad: C. Cutt (W), A. Dathi, A. Daryanani, R. Dattani, L. Emini, A. Fevzi (W), T. Harvey, Z. Hussain, S. Kachalia, M. Khan, U. Khan, Z. Lakhani (W), N. Lopez

U12A The second half of the season was a real success for the team. Against local rivals St Albans, they showed off their impressive skills by batting a magnificent 122 runs off 20 overs, with Aditya Shingala stealing the show with a lightning-fast 30. In their next match against Magdalen College School, they won by an impressive 10 runs, with Shingala scoring 41 runs and taking four wickets, while Sehaj Sekhon took three.
