Northwood Prep and Merchant Taylors' Prep at Moor Farm: 40 years in the making (1982-2022)

More significantly, for pupils, parents and staff of Northwood Preparatory School, the school moved from Northwood to Moor Farm and the Moor Park Estate. The oldest local Prep School (founded by Francis Terry in 1910 in St John’s Church, Northwood) had found its forever home. Moor Farm offered so much more in every respect.

1982 will be remembered by some for the UK release of the film Gandhi (eight Academy awards including Best Picture) and by a few for the opening of the first Next store. However, before we reminisce about ‘the good old days’, it was also the year of the Falklands War with lives lost at sea and on land, of IRA bombs in London’s royal parks and UK unemployment of over three million for the first time since the 1930s. The unpopular twenty pence piece was also first issued.
