the longest cowshed in Hertfordshire and affectionately renamed ‘the long corridor’ by staff and pupils. Perhaps the most striking change, though, is the rear view of the school. An astro cricket wicket in those days was an inspired choice and the continuing love of cricket at MTP is well documented. To conclude, the school may only have moved a couple of miles in 1982 but it has come a long way since. As the dairy farm’s fields were already being used for games by the school, the subsequent decision to purchase and convert the site was visionary by the governors. Education replaced agriculture and pastoral care took on a very different meaning. The development of grade II listed buildings was sympathetically managed by local architects, F. J. Thompson & Co and joint builders, S. Williams building contractors and Abbiss & Hale Ltd. Mr & Mrs Sudbury took up residence as Head and the school was officially opened by the Bishop of Hertford on 15th October 1982.
