Concordia Winter 2022

George Wright (2014-2021) For the first half of the academic year I worked at Thorpe House School in Gerrards Cross in a GapYear post. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the kids and learning how to teach – it made me realise I want to continue to work a job where educating people plays a main part. I then travelled to Hawaii during the Christmas period and moved on to Quepos, Costa Rica in January 2022 to start my scuba diving coral internship. I learnt how to dive and fell in love with the underwater world and helping with the conservation efforts that take place here. We fragmented corals and actively worked to outplant and replenish the reef one fragment at a time. After the month of internship I went back home and realised I'd found my happiness in Costa Rica so came back almost immediately! I'm happy to say that I have now been back in Quepos for three months and am currently a PADI Divemaster working for the local dive shop as a professional. I start my Scuba Instructor course at the beginning of June and will be certified in six weeks. I've found a community of like-minded people who have come to

Quepos from all over the world and who will be friends for life. The pictures are of Quepos, the Marina and the dive boat I work on.
