Cambridge Chemistry Challenge

twelve achieved Silver and fourteen Copper. Alex E. and Joshua R. were ranked in the top 2% of entrants nationwide — an outstanding achievement for Merchant Taylors’ young scientists.

Forty-two Lower Sixth chemists took part in this year’s Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, achieving the department’s best results in recent years. Eleven earned Gold awards, placing them in the top 10% nationally;

Exploring Futures: careers and enterprise at Merchant Taylors’ Merchant Taylors’ continues to inspire ambition and curiosity through an exceptional range of careers and enterprise opportunities. Alongside talks, fairs and mentoring, pupils have excelled in national competitions designed to connect learning with the real world. Two teams impressed in CityZen, the Institution of Civil Engineers’ national challenge, developing innovatory ideas for renewable energy and improving building efficiency. Seventeen pupils joined Young Reporter with Newsquest,

honing journalistic skills and exploring media law. Monty H. (Divisions) reached the national semi-finals. Entrepreneurial spirit thrived through Young Enterprise and the Tycoon competition, in which pupils launched real businesses. One Divisions team, Protect, marketed tracking devices to locate lost property, topping the national leaderboard for their cohort. A highlight was the Summer Careers Challenge, celebrating pupils’ reflections on their work experience; many said it reshaped their aspirations. Placements ranged from engineering and education to media and volunteering, each offering valuable insight into the world of work.
