Outstanding examination results Merchant Taylors’ pupils celebrated another year of exceptional examination success. At A Level, 90% of all grades were awarded at A*, A or B with an impressive 33% at A* and 71% A–A*. Twenty-seven boys achieved three or more A*s. Nine secured places at Oxford or Cambridge and a further nine are going on to study Medicine. At GCSE the results were equally impressive: 45% of grades were 9s (A**), 73% were 9–8 (A*) and 97% were 9–6 (A*–B). Seventeen pupils achieved a full sweep of 9s in all their subjects. These results reflect not only the boys’ talent and commitment but also the dedication of their teachers and families.

Oxbridge essay success Two Upper Sixth History students have been recognised in prestigious Oxbridge essay competitions. Raffi R. was Commended in the Julia Wood Prize (Oxford) for his essay on Louis XIV and Sebastian S. was Highly Commended in the Robson Prize (Cambridge) for his analysis of early American expansion — impressive achievements reflecting exceptional scholarship and curiosity.
