Afternoon Tea Undaunted by the heat of one of the hottest days in June, OMTs who left School in 1980 and earlier returned for a nostalgic afternoon, some for the first time since Upper Sixth. Among them was our oldest guest Jessel Harris (1947–1951), visiting after many years. The day began with School tours led by Lower Sixth students. Groups rediscovered old haunts like the Scout Room and familiar form rooms. One group proudly paused at the Monitors’ Board where their names had been carved decades previously. Newer sights also impressed. The Design Centre, filled with cutting-edge technology, sparked admiration, with many saying they would never leave if they were students today. The newly refurbished gym also drew attention — not least for its refreshing air-conditioning.

Back at the OMT Clubhouse, guests enjoyed a delightful tea served by the catering team. Scones, sandwiches, cakes and plenty of tea flowed as old friends caught up, shared memories and chatted with the Development Office team and School Archivist, Isabel Hesketh, who exhibited some fascinating archive material. The Head Master, Simon Everson, and Chaplain, James Fields, joined the gathering, sharing updates on School life and listening to stories from the past. A special mention goes to Ivan Nabarro, a talented Upper Sixth student, who provided background jazz piano music. After tea, guests toured the state-of-the-art Julian Hill Cricket Centre before strolling to the 1st XI pitch, where the annual MCC match against our current 1st XI was coming to an end. It was a relaxed and heartwarming afternoon, bringing together OMTs across generations in a spirit of fellowship and fond memories.

Pub drinks In October OMTs joined the OMT Society Chairman, Simon Eggs (1980–1985), for informal after work drinks at the Market Tavern in Shepherd Market. It is always brilliant to see introductions being

made between OMTs in person, and even better to hear that these connections are continuing through LinkedIn and in business settings too. Keep your eye out for further dates when the OMT Society will be hosting informal drinks in other parts of the UK and worldwide!
