Fifty years and counting! In October we welcomed back 40 OMTs who left in 1974 or 1975. For many, it was their first return in decades, and they arrived with some trepidation, wondering if they would recognise faces or places. Those worries quickly faded as conversations flowed and memories resurfaced.

reflected on how much had changed and how much had stayed the same. The camaraderie was evident, and many expressed how meaningful it was to reconnect after so long. We plan to host another reunion in 2026, nominally for the Class of 1976. However, we warmly invite anyone who may have missed the 1974 or 1975 gatherings to join us. The first recipient of a 100% bursary funded by the Cricket Centre is already thriving at the School. Benefactors also helped enrich extracurricular life, with support for clubs and societies including the Rowing Club and Art Café. Through the Clubs and Societies Fund, pupils apply for grants to support new equipment or initiatives, writing the applications themselves. Several pupils attended the event to explain how these opportunities have had an impact on them. You can read more about this year’s awards on pages 46 and 47. Held just before the Carol Service, the reception also recognised the many volunteers who contribute to the School’s vibrant learning community.

Benefactors’ Day: an opportunity to thank our supporters Philanthropy has been at the heart of Merchant Taylors’ School since its founding, and on 8 December 2024 we were delighted to host a special reception to recognise and thank our benefactors. Their support has enhanced the exceptional education we provide and helped to expand access to talented pupils, irrespective of their financial background, through our bursary programme. This year, donations have supported such major capital projects as the world-class Julian Hill Cricket Centre. This state-of-the-art facility not only provides an elite level indoor cricket venue for our students and the wider community, but its lettings income also supports
