understand the gravitas of remembrance. As part of the trip, we were able to pay our respects to John Edward Raphael at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery. Continuing our connection with remembrance, on ANZAC Day, our cadets formed a Guard of Honour for the military, royal, government, and diplomatic dignitaries attending the Gallipoli Association’s service in the crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral. HRH the Duke of Edinburgh was impressed by our cadets’ turnout. He was thrilled to learn about our long-standing connection with the Memorial which depicts the actions of OMT, Midshipman Drewry VC. Following the service, we took part in the parade from Horse Guards to the Cenotaph. The following day, back at school and this time with parents in attendance, was Inspection Day. Our Reviewing Officer was Colonel Clint Read RM, the base commander at Northwood HQ. We have an ever-stronger connection with the base and are
grateful for being permitted to take our cadets shooting there every Wednesday afternoon. I want to thank my fellow officers and civilian instructors who give up their time on Friday afternoons, at weekends and during the holidays. For his contribution over the years as SSI and OC Army, Captain Sharrock was awarded a Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate for Meritorious Service to Cadets in the London District. A highlight the year for the RAF section was thirteen cadets representing MTS CCF at the South East Area Royal Air Squadron Trophy at RAF Halton. Competing against twenty other seasoned RAF sections, our cadets showed great dedication and performed excellently on the day. We look forward now to ten cadets attending the Inskip Adventure Training Camp in July, and Sgt Goyal attending the National Air and Space camp. Lt Cdr J. E. Firestone
