When The Rains Came In the highest glacial peaks The trickle turned into a torrent.

The mighty Indus overflowed its banks And the rain thundered down like bullets. He tried to make himself small, To find some part of the land that was dry, But all that the fearful eye could see Was the disappearing landscape of his childhood. When the rains stopped, and the sun smiled He searched high and low and all around. He remembered before when the tide would change, So he waited and waited for the waters to recede. But this time was different, and nothing changed. The mosquitoes multiplied, and his unease grew. His young mind could not decipher These broken laws of nature, How one degree could tip the scales And alter the balance between hope and despair.
