PHAB and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award The Duke of Edinburgh Award programme has remained incredibly popular this year. Half of all Divisions started their Bronze Award this year, while some 10% of the Lower Sixth took up the challenge of the Gold Award. We did not run a Silver Award, however, as the boys in the Fifth Form focused on the academic demands of their GCSEs. We continued to conduct the Bronze Expedition Training over the three Field Days. In October, the boys were introduced to campcraft skills; in March, they planned a circular day walk in the local area, familiarising themselves with map and compass skills; in April, on the Friday before their Expedition, they recapped their campcraft skills, planned their qualifying route, and did some team bonding activities. This allowed them to complete all the required training elements and make final preparations for their Expedition. Two days later, the twelve groups spent their May Bank Holiday in the Chilterns undertaking their Qualifying Expedition. Half the groups walked northward from School to the campsite near Kings

remained a favourite and we look forward to delivering it bigger and better next year! More recently, the Year 7 and 8 disco united boys and girls from STHN, MTP, MTS, St Martin’s and St John’s. The masquerade theme was complete with masks, smoke, and some interesting dance moves. Overall, with all the mufti days, Phabions League and our participation in the Careers Fair, we are well on track to raise our target amount. We are ever grateful for the support of donors and sponsors. On behalf of the PHAB Week Team, thank you. Yuvraj Juttla (L6th)

had been made towards our goal. Our appeal for funds didn’t stop there, though, as a few blistered members of the team recovered in time to complete the Berkhamsted Half-Marathon, raising over £8,000 in combination with the walk. Another highlight for many was the infamous PHAB Revue, headlined by the likes of D-Block Asia and Los Pollos Hermanos. We were able to spice up our life with a Spice Girls tribute act, before Isaac Reeves quite literally turned down the lights for a night full of singing and raving. The high-quality performances were coordinated expertly by our very own ‘DJ Rash’ and Josh Simpson. This event has
