TAYLORIAN 2024

U14A At the time of writing, the U14As have managed to win all of their matches and are in the final of the County Cup, where they will play Harrow School. There have been some fantastic performances along the way, with the highlights being a convincing win against St Paul’s, a brilliant hundred from Aditya Shingala away at Haileybury, and a hard-fought victory against St Albans. The strength in depth of this squad is remarkable, with 19 players representing the A team at various points across the season. The stronger U13 players also contributed in the cup run, making selection very difficult on a weekly basis. Kian Jobanputra and Roshan Lakhani took regular wickets at important times and our fast bowlers also bowled with real pace. The camaraderie of this group has made it a special season, regardless of the outcome of the cup final, and I very much look forward to seeing this group progress in future years. Mr G. D. Roots U14C After undergoing early season Arctic style training, the U14C team of 2024 showcased their cricket prowess across several matches, demonstrating significant growth and skill. Captain Karawalli led the team with enthusiasm, winning the toss in the first game and choosing to bowl against Hampton. Despite Hampton’s strong start, the U14Cs managed to fight back, and Arora notably took four wickets in a single over. The U14Cs successfully chased down a target of 162, led by opener Kerr with 62 runs, and followed by key contributions from Vadher and Kundgol. Unfortunately, their next game against Whitgift was cancelled due to rain. Heavy midweek rain also delayed our third fixture against Berkhamsed to the afternoon. Nevertheless, the team’s resilience shone through; Kundgol and Gill pushed the score to 120 in 25 overs, and debutant Dewji’s pace devastated Berkhamsted’s top order early on in their innings. In another match at Sandy Lodge against St Paul’s, Kundgol and Patel built a solid score, despite some uncertain running between the wickets. The team set a defendable target of 142, and despite a shaky moment caused by St Paul’s Latner mimicking the famous World Cup T20 final, Hammill’s composed final over secured

an MTS win by 8 runs, preserving the unbeaten run. The U14Cs continued to impress and reached a highly commendable total of 178 against Haileybury. The ‘Moor Park Express’, Dewji, made it tough for Haileybury, leading to a well-rounded team performance in unusually sunny conditions. In a notable match against St Albans, Viraj Pathak and Rafi Ahmed provided rapid starts to set a high target; our hosts fell short by 22 runs, despite their attacking zeal. Rain intervened again as the Whitgift fixture returned, leaving just 2 upcoming games as
