Summer Reunions OMTs who left in 2005, 1995 and 1985 enjoyed a return to School in reunions on Saturday 17 May and 7 June. Guests toured the School seeking out familiar haunts — from Third Form classrooms where they met their best friend to the Great Hall balcony — and explored the new facilities of the Design, Engineering and Technology department, the E. Evans Geography Building and the Julian Hill Cricket Centre. The Class of 1985 enjoyed drinks in the Inner Quad in May, but stormy weather in June forced a change of plans. The SCR provided a welcome indoor alternative, much to the amusement of guests who remembered waiting outside the room for teachers to appear. The rain arrived just as the group moved to the OMT Clubhouse. However, although jackets were wet, spirits remained high! Since relaunching the reunion programme in 2022, we have welcomed back many OMTs. These events often spark further informal gatherings with guests saying they won’t wait another 30 years to reconnect. The reunions continue to be an enjoyable celebration of shared history and enduring friendships and we look forward to seeing the classes of 2016, 2006, 1996, 1986 and 1976 in the summer of 2026.
Graham Macleod’s Independence Day! Graham Macleod, much admired teacher of Computer Science, retired this summer; he held a farewell for his former pupils on 4 July, straight after the end of term! His impact on his students was demonstrated by the fact that over 60 guests registered. They enjoyed a buffet and drinks in the OMT Clubhouse before a hard-fought VEX Robotics challenge played out in the Durrants Room.
